George Groves vs Jamie Cox

WBA super-middleweight champion George Groves says he “will not give up his world title for anything” when he fights Jamie Cox on Saturday.

Venue: Wembley Arena Date: Saturday, 14 October Start time: 22:30 BST (approx)

Groves’ title is on the line as the British pair meet at the Wembley Arena in a fight that is also a quarter-final in the World Boxing Super Series.

George Groves and Jamie Cox both made the super-middleweight limit ahead of their World Boxing Super Series quarter-final at Wembley Arena tomorrow night.

The ‘Saint’ – who will be making the first defence of his WBA ‘super’ title – weighed-in at 167.1bs, whilst the challenger came in at 167.8lbs ahead of their bout, with the winner set to fight Chris Eubank Jr in the next round.
The southpaw-boxer is the number one seed going into his Muhammad Ali Trophy opening fight, where he picked fellow Brit Cox as his first opponent.

And according to the 29-year-old Londoner, he requested that Eubank Jr. was also in his side of the draw.

Eubank Jr made light work of Turkish Avni Yildirim last week to set up a semi-final tie with the winner of tonight’s bout at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

“I told them to make sure that Chris Eubank is on my side of the draw,” Groves revealed. “I also picked Jamie Cox as my first opponent.
